Obituary

Phyllis Ann Anderson, 89, passed away peacefully at her home in Georgetown on May 9, 2025.

Born on November 16, 1935, during a snowstorm on her family's farmhouse near Mose, North Dakota, Phyllis was the youngest of six children of Pedar Tufte and Anna Larson Tufte. She grew up in McHenry, ND surrounded by love and the strong values that would guide her throughout her life.

On September 24, 1954, Phyllis married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Ronald Roy Anderson. Together, they shared 60 beautiful years of marriage before Ron's passing in March 2015. Their bond was a model of deep devotion and partnership.

Phyllis and Ron endured the heartbreaking loss of their firstborn twin boys, who were born prematurely. They went on to have six more children over the next eight years. Among them was their daughter Debi Kay, whose kind heart was cherished by all who knew her. Debi passed away in 1998, and Phyllis carried her memory lovingly in her heart for the rest of her days.

Phyllis found her greatest joy in being a devoted wife, a nurturing mother, and later, a proud grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Her life was a testament to love and family.

She is survived by five of her children: Valerie McCarley (Charlie) of Richardson, Rick Anderson (Peggy) of Austin, Laurie Jones (Doug) of Austin, Pam Langford (Tom) of Round Top, and Rhonda Anderson of Georgetown. She also leaves behind eight grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren who will carry forward her spirit and warmth.

A celebration of life will be held in the fall.
