Obituary

Phillip Albert "Phil" Sharpnack passed away on August 18, 2025, in Liberty Hill, Texas, at the age of 76 surrounded by his family. Phil was born on April 30, 1949, in Chicago, Illinois, to LeRoy and Margaret Sharpnack; he was the fifth of six children.

Phil grew up in Oak Park, Illinois, and enlisted in the Army on September 5, 1967. He served two tours in Vietnam as a Cryptographic Specialist. Upon his honorable discharge in May 1970, Phil used his GI Bill benefit and enrolled at Northern Illinois University, where he met his wife, then Cynthia "Cindy" Crisp. They were married on October 16, 1971.

Phil was an amazing father and husband and was integral in raising their three girls, to include coaching their sports teams, particularly soccer.  He played soccer all the way until his mid-50's and loved building and operating his HO scale model railroad with his "train" friends and was active in the Austin Model Railway Society.

He was affectionately known as Husband, Daddy, Pops, Papa Bear, Gpaw, Grandpa Texas and Uncle Phil. He was a role model to his daughters, their friends, his nieces and nephews and his grandchildren.

Phil was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, David and Richard, and is survived by his wife of 53 years, Cindy, his daughters, Michelle, Peggy, and Monica, their spouses, his five grandchildren, Michaela, Samantha (and her husband), Michael, Alessandra, and Valentina, his three sisters, Lois, Karen and Margie and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown, Texas, on September 2 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. The family will hold a private graveside service the following day at Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas.
