Phillip Gordon Schwarz, age 72 of Georgetown, Texas, passed away peacefully and went to his heavenly home on Friday, April 8, 2022, after battling pancreatic cancer for 4 years.
Phillip was born to Arthur Schwarz and Evelyn (Zamorsky) Schwarz on October 17, 1949, in Taylor, Texas. He was baptized on October 1, 1950, at Taylor Brethren Church and confirmed on March 22, 1964 at St. John Lutheran Church in Thorndale.
Phillip graduated from Thorndale High School in 1968 and began dating Janet Laffere while they attended Southwest Texas in San Marcos. Phillip and Janet were married on May 15, 1971 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale and just last year celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary. Over the years, Phillip was a farmer, banker, investment advisor, and life underwriter. All his life, Phillip was active in Church leadership, most recently as an elder at Zion Lutheran Church in Walburg. He loved traveling and sports, especially baseball and football. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and meeting up with his neighbors at Rentsch, the local brewery. Phillip and his friends were dubbed the Rentschmen, and they spent many hours talking about cars, including his Corvette, history, politics, and trivia; and they loved a good joke. Phillip was an avid reader as evidenced by his study at home.
Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Schwarz, granddaughter Jordan Plauschinat, brother Kenny Schwarz, sister-in-law Donna Schwarz and nephew Jason Schwarz.
Phillip is survived by his wife, Janet Schwarz, children, Kristen Schwarz and Bradley Schwarz and wife Valerie, mother, Evelyn Schwarz, brothers Mike Schwarz, Glenn Schwarz, James Schwarz and wife Rochelle, and sister-in-law Lori Schwarz. He is also survived by his grandchildren Tyler Schwarz, Connor Schwarz, Harper Plauschinat, Ellison Plauschinat and Madison Schwarz; also numerous nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation will be on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 5-7 PM at Ramsey Funeral Home at 5600 Williams Drive, Georgetown, Texas 78633. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at 11 AM at Zion Lutheran Church Walburg at 6001 FM 1105, Georgetown, Texas 78626. In lieu of flowers, a memorial can be made to Zion Lutheran Church Capital Campaign.
