Obituary

Peggy Schuler passed away December 5, 2022. She is survived by her beloved husband, Alfred; her three sons Dan and Paige Schuler, David and Cristy Schuler, and Douglas Schuler; her grandchildren Zack Schuler, Maddy and Blake Pryor, Delaney Schuler, Logan Schuler, Harrison Schuler, Shea Schuler, Jack Philpott, Jett Philpott; her great-grand son, Bennett Pryor, and her brother, Bert and Cindy Emitt, along with many nieces, nephews, and others. She was predeceased by her parents, Chester and Omah Emitt, her sister, Suzie Ferree, and her infant son, Brian Schuler.

Peggy was born July 29, 1934 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She graduated from Northeast High School and attended Oklahoma State where she met her husband Alfred Schuler. Peggy was married to Alfred in 1957. They lived in Oklahoma City where Alfred worked at his family's business while Peggy made a beautiful home. They were lifelong members of St. Luke UMC in OKC. Peggy instilled in her sons a love for great food and exciting adventure. She loved to travel and water ski, and whether she was visiting the Grand Prix at Monte Carlo, dancing at a luau in Hawaii, or hiking in Colorado, she loved showing her sons the world.

Peggy loved playing games, and taught her sons and nieces and nephews all of the classics. You've never played spoons until you have survived a Schuler family game night. Peggy's distinctive laugh could be heard roaring above all the many voices competing in card games. Whether she was tooling around OKC in her Lincoln town car using the CB handle of the "White Tornado" or cheering for her sons and grandkids at their sporting events, Peggy stood out despite her short stature. After winning a battle with breast cancer Peggy devoted time to volunteering to help other cancer patients.

When her boys had left the home, she wasn't one to take her empty nest lightly. Instead she found a new world to compete in- ballroom dancing. Peggy and Alfred took lessons and took over the ballroom, winning several trophies at dance competitions. She danced as seriously as she played spoons or made dinner, with panache and flair. She could even make shopping an adventure, especially if there was a sale.

Peggy Schuler lived her life with a great zeal for everything. She was the embodiment of a big punch coming in a small package. Whether she was cooking, competing, shopping, dancing, or exploring, she looked for the fun in all that she did. She leaves behind three sons who are amazing cooks themselves, and her legacy of adventure can be seen in all of her grandkids as they explore the world. Live, laugh, and love loudly, just like Peggy.
