Peggy "Joyce" MacEwan passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. Joyce was the daughter of Tab Murry and Vera Mae Sims and was born July 23, 1936 in Waco, Texas.
Joyce was the older sibling to her identical twin sister and other half, Gay Deloris Naylor. The two spent their adolescent years in Grand Prairie, Texas, and were cheerleaders together at Grand Prairie High School, where they graduated in 1954. Throughout her life, Gay was always close by.
Joyce married Eric MacEwan on November 19, 1955 in Waco. In 1969, the two settled in and made Georgetown, Texas their home with their three children. Joyce had multiple careers throughout her life including real estate, managing the cafeteria system for the Georgetown Independent School District, and 25 years of service at the United States Postal Service. Joyce had a fierce dedication to her family and deeply valued holidays when she could share her cooking and quality time with the people she loved.
She is survived by her son Scott MacEwan (wife Robin), son Kevin MacEwan (wife Kari), daughter Laurie Shaw (husband Blake), five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, sisters Gay Naylor (husband Borden) and Lona Kay Murry, and brother Frankie Murry.
She is preceded in death by, and will be laid to rest next to, her husband Eric "Mac" MacEwan.
She will be buried at the Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen Texas on Friday, August 15, 2025 at 9 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund at the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country.
