Obituary

Paul Charles Churchill, 78, passed away on February 2, 2026, in Georgetown, Texas. Born on September 25, 1947, in Batavia, New York, Paul lived a life marked by dedication to his work, deep love for his family, and an enduring sense of humor that brightened the lives of those around him.

Paul graduated from Batavia High School and went on to earn his bachelor's degree from SUNY Brockport. Shortly after graduation, he began his career as a claims adjuster with Travelers Insurance. His professional journey in the insurance industry spanned decades and took him and his family across the country-from Rochester, New York to Hartford, Connecticut; then to California; Dallas, Texas; and Louisiana-as he advanced through various roles. His commitment to excellence and leadership eventually led him to serve as Vice President of Claims at Marsh Insurance.

After retiring and settling in Georgetown with his wife Sheila (née Huehn), Paul quickly realized that retirement didn't suit him. He briefly worked as a school bus driver before deciding to pursue long-haul trucking. After earning his commercial license and completing training, he joined Werner Trucking for a year. His reputation in the insurance field remained strong-so much so that a former colleague reached out and invited him back into the industry. Paul accepted the offer and returned to work at Marsh Insurance as Vice President of Claims, where he remained until just three months before his passing.

Paul served six years in the National Guard and carried with him a strong sense of duty throughout his life. He was known for being hardworking and generous — mentor to many who valued integrity and respect above all else.

He shared 52 devoted years of marriage with Sheila Churchill. Together they raised three children: Kevin, Christopher, and Allison Churchill. Paul was also a proud grandfather to Haley Taylor and Eli Churchill, and great-grandfather to Luke and Beau Taylor. He is also survived by his brother Gary Churchill.

He was predeceased by his parents Earl and Emma Churchill and his sister Cheryl.

A lifelong Buffalo Bills fan for over 60 years, Paul found joy in cheering on his team through every season. He was an active member of the Corvette Club and loved traveling-whether relaxing on a beach in Hawaii or exploring new destinations. At home, he enjoyed gardening, spending time with his dogs, and reading about history.

Paul's legacy is one of resilience, warmth, mentorship, and unwavering support for those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
