Patrick Joseph
Towey
March 17, 1945 – February 4, 2026
Patrick Joseph Towey, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026 in Georgetown, Texas at the age of 80. We are heartbroken. Pat was born on St. Patrick's Day, March 17th, 1945 to the late Martin and Agnes (Judge) Towey in New York City. Growing up in Washington Heights with his 9 brothers and sisters was a very special time for him. He had happy memories of stickball in the streets, subway rides to school, movies and plays with his sisters and summer vacations at Red Hook with his family. He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School and Fordham University in Bronx, NY. After college, Pat was proud of his service in the United States Army and felt fortunate to be stationed at Fort Ord, California and Brussels, Belgium.
His career as a Systems Engineer with the IBM Corporation began in New York before relocating with IBM to Michigan. During these early years, he married his first wife, Connie Towey, and they had two children whom he adored and showered with love; and of whom he was so very proud. He also made many lifelong friends at IBM.
It was at IBM where he met Janice (Schroeder) Towey and they were married on June 24, 1990. They shared over 35 wonderful years together filled with travel, time with friends, skiing, golfing and annual vacations to Lake George in upstate New York where they would gather for two weeks every summer with Pat's brothers and sisters and their families. This time with family was so important and special to Pat. Pat and Jan relocated to Georgetown, Texas in 2017 where they continued their adventures with family and newly acquainted dear friends.
Pat filled our lives with music, laughter, adventure, game nights, movie nights, geocaching adventures, good food, and good friends. He loved bringing people together, making people laugh, and he always wanted everyone to have a good time. For many years you could find his great nieces and nephews sitting around him on the couch learning new games or playing puzzles on his ipad. He loved technology, always making sure the family had the newest and latest gadgets. He also loved reading, the Detroit Lions, and any and all crossword puzzles and word games.
He will be remembered for many things, but especially his thoughtfulness, cleverness, fun-loving spirit, kind heart, sense of humor, and gift giving – especially chocolates at every holiday. He was known for his generous spirit, and for the remarkable kindness and warmth he showed to every single person he interacted with.
In addition to his wife, Pat is survived by his two loving children Patrick Justis (Martinez, CA ) and Alice (El Cerrito, CA); his son-in-law Matt Blackwell (El Cerrito, CA); and the mother of his children, Connie Towey (Martinez, CA). Pat is also survived by his beloved brothers and sisters: Patricia Bentivegna, Kitty Parisi, Agnes Haberberger, James (Nancy) Towey, Marguerite Towey-Yacovelli and Joe (Susan) Towey and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by Jan's brothers and sister; Maryanne (David) Maruszak, Dan (Debbie) Schroeder and Ken (Esther) Schroeder and their children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Pat was pre-deceased by his brothers, Martin, Paul and John; nieces Melissa and Cheryl, brother-in-law, Sal Bentivegna and dear family friend Chris Mantikos.
The family would like to thank all the caregivers from Amada Senior Care, especially Cierra, for the wonderful, loving care they gave our dear husband and father.
A Celebration of Life is planned for Sunday, March 8, 2026 at The Oaks at Legacy Hills in Sun City (301 Del Webb Blvd, Georgetown, TX) at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, Pat would appreciate donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital or any organization that supports children in need.
