Obituary

Patricia Ann Dodge (Pomeroy) passed away peacefully on February 27, 2024 after a brief decline.

Pat was born June 6, 1926 in Middleton, Michigan to Bard and Kathryn Pomeroy. She attended school in Middleton, except for one year of high school in Sarasota, FL. She also attended Michigan State University for two years, leaving to marry Robert Dodge (Bob) on Sept 6, 1945, upon his completion of four years in the United States Navy.

In addition to raising her family, Pat participated in many activities including bowling (she earned lots of badges & recognition), golf, dance (ballet, tap and ballroom) and walking. She was the consummate volunteer - giving endless hours to her church where she taught Sunday School and started a quilting group. In her community, she volunteered at the hospital and in her children's schools. She was lucky enough to travel the world with Bob, as he worked internationally. Pat was a gourmet cook (especially French cuisine) who loved to entertain, so when Bob had clients in town from around the globe, they were invited home for good food and conversation, which of course included their children.

In 1976, Bob transferred his division of the Wickes Corporation from Michigan to Colorado. While Pat was at first skeptical of the move, she embraced the mountains, the sunshine, and the wonderful new friends they made. She made her mark, yet again, in the community through her volunteer work at church and the local hospital. They spent 25 wonderful years in beautiful Colorado before moving to Georgetown, Texas to be near their daughters.

Texas was a world away from Colorado but again, Pat immersed herself in the community. She took dance classes, walked the trails in Sun City, loved her daily workouts at the Fitness Center, and volunteered at Wellspring UMC where she worked with Close Friends, an Alzheimer support group. With a love for all things beautiful, Pat introduced weekly art projects to the attendees. Unfortunately, the arrival of Covid changed life and Pat's volunteer opportunities dwindled, but she found joy in continuing her workouts.

She worked to keep in touch with family near and far over the years via calls, numerous visits, and greeting cards sent for every holiday. She was lucky enough to attend many school performances and sports competitions, as well as graduations and eventually marriages over the years.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Bob; as well as her parents and siblings. Pat is survived by her children: David Shelton-Dodge (Susie), Deborah McAngus Leake (Earnie), Larry Dodge (Vickie) and Kathy Fowler (JT). She is also survived by 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
