Opal G. Smith, age 94, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on March 11, 2018. She was born August 12, 1923 in Abernathy, Texas to Felix and Iva (Beardon) Lea. Opal married Luther Ross Smith on October 14, 1945 in Stamford, Texas. She worked for El Paso Products in the Oil and Gas Industry as an Executive Secretary for 17 years until her retirement in August 1983. Opal was a member of Crestview Baptist Church in Georgetown.

Opal was part of the greatest generation. "Family First" was her motto. She loved cooking and hosting events for family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Dozier (Mike); grandson, David Dozier (Kate); granddaughters, Julie Hogg (Wes), Laura Doherty (Jeremy), Amy Fisher, Andrea Smith; great grandchildren, Kylie Hogg, Kobey Hogg, Brody Hogg, Will Dozier, Jack Dozier, Wade Doherty, Brooks Doherty, Lyla Doherty; brother, Cecil Lea.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Luther R. Smith; son, Dennis R. Smith; sister, Doris Cowan.

Memorials may be made to the Samaritan's Purse.

Serving as pallbearers will be David Dozier, Wes Hogg, Jeremy Doherty, Charles Schwertner, Kobey Hogg, Mike Dozier.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Aspermont City Cemetery in Aspermont, Texas.
