Norma Correa was born on November 2, 1948, in Raymonville, Texas and later moved to a small-town name Encino, Texas. She attended Encino Elementary School and was bused to Falfurrias Junior High School.

Norma graduated from Falfurrias High School in 1968. During this time her father passed away leaving mom with seven children to care for. Being the eldest, the responsibility to aid mom fell on her. Norma started working as a P.E. Aide at an elementary school. In this position, Norma appreciated the rewards of working with children. Concurrently she attended night classes at Pan American University pursuing a business career. However, the pleasures of working with children overshadowing her business aspirations. Norma transferred to Texas A&I University to pursue a degree in education.

Upon receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education with specializations in health and physical education in 1976, Norma was faced with an array of school districts to select from for employment. Norma chose Dallas Independent School District and was assigned to teach a first-grade class at J.W. Fannin Elementary School.

While working on her degree at Texas A&I University, Norma was employed at the bilingual education office of the university. This arose her interest in attaining a bilingual certification in 1979. Later, she felt challenged to work with younger children, so she ventured to get a kindergarten endorsement through the University of Texas at Dallas in 1982.

Norma retired from Dallas Independent School district.

Norma leaves to behind Grady "Shelton" Hooper. She also leaves behind two sisters, Rachel Abrigo and Janie Reyes, as well as three brothers, Roque, Robert and Noe Correa, numerous nephews and nieces.

Norma is preceded in death by her father Alfonso Correa and her mother Juanita Correa and her brother Lionel Correa. In addition, Norma leaves her many students who loved and adored her.
