Nancy Lou
Wiedeman
October 20, 1942 – May 11, 2025
Nancy Robinson Wiedeman, 82, of Georgetown, passed away on May 11, 2025. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at San Gabriel Presbyterian Church with Pastor Bill Pederson officiating. A reception will follow her service at the church. Arrangements are by Ramsey Funeral Home (ramseyfuneral.com) where stories, condolences and pictures can be shared.
Nancy was born to Aubrey and Esther Robinson on October 20, 1942. She grew up in Houston surrounded by a large, fun-loving family. Married at 15, she became a deeply devoted mother to her four children. She was a Sunday School teacher, Girl Scout leader, softball coach, and a very "cool mom." She graduated Summa Cum Laude from University of Houston with a BS in Mathematics and Speech and had a career in teaching and computer sales before retiring early to marry Don Wiedeman on August 26, 1994. As Co-Captain of their Texas Reb sailboat, their adventure began! They traveled extensively in the Caribbean and Bahamas for 13 years, then lived in Panama and Mexico. She loved scuba diving, spearing lobster, and making new friends. She became fluent in Spanish and honed her skills as an accomplished painter. Passionate about helping those less fortunate, she had a longstanding commitment of giving her time, talents and resources. Early in life she volunteered with Lighthouse of Houston by recording books on tape for the blind. When she lived abroad, she tutored in English and math, volunteered as a surgery assistant with Operation Smile, supported orphans and women escaping domestic violence by visiting them, buying hand-crafted items, and donating necessities. After moving to Sun City, Nancy joined San Gabriel Presbyterian Church, Women Helping Others service organization, Visual Arts Club, and Cackling Hens Book Club. She volunteered as a Stephen Minister, spending time with people in need. One of her favorite weekly activities was volunteering at the Caring Place. Nancy lived with a wide-open heart and a well of boundless love for others. Her bright and generous spirit uplifted everyone around her. She was radiant, and the light she emitted drew people close to her. Nancy dealt with many adversities in her life (polio, Parkinson's, Post-Polio Syndrome, and vascular dementia), always with determination and resilience. She lived through the ups and downs of life with eternal hope and optimism, a megawatt smile and irresistible laughter.
Nancy is preceded in death by her parents and three of her children – Bryan Boelsen, Karl Boelsen and Kim Boelsen Sanzo. She is survived by husband Don Wiedeman; daughter Kris Hooks (Rick), step-sons Troy Wiedeman and Trey Wiedeman; siblings Carol Capps, Ralph Robinson, Don Robinson (Diane), Bonnie Assad (Jim) and Julie Green; grandchildren Gregory Sanzo (Hannah), Sabrina Lumpkin (Kyle), Allysen Hooks (Paul Frederickson), Haley Follet (Rob), Trevor and Taylor Wiedeman and Jimmy Bell; great-grandchildren Kenner and Kase Lumpkin and Leo Sanzo and a family full of nieces and nephews and their children.
Deepest gratitude to the staff at Truewood Assisted Living and Enhabit Hospice for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, you may honor Nancy with a memorial contribution to the Caring Place ( caringplacetx.org ).
