Nan Frances
Goeger
September 10, 1928 – March 2, 2025
Nan Frances Campbell Goeger, 96, passed away on March 2, 2025, in her home, fulfilling a lifelong dream of peacefully passing on in her own home.
Nan was born on Sep. 10, 1928, in the front bedroom in Ash Fork, AZ, to Eugene Colin Campbell and Ruth Echo Diamond Campbell, the youngest of seven children from the early 1900's. She was raised in Ash Fork, Mormon Lake, and Phoenix, Arizona. She attended two years at Stephen's College in Missouri, where she met Don Goeger.
On Aug. 8, 1948, she married Don Goeger in Phoenix, AZ and lived in St. Louis where she worked and helped Don with his thesis until Don graduated the summer 1949 with a "Master's Degree in Geology".
Don worked for Samedan Oil Corporation as a geologist in Ardmore, Okla., Lafayette, La., and Houston, Texas, for 26 years. During that time, Nan raised four children, moved eight times, became an avid golfer with three hole in ones, and was on the Altar Guild at the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Lafayette, LA. Upon retiring in 1973, Nan and Don purchased land in the Lockhart area to pursue Don's dream of ranching and cattle production. Her other hobbies, besides golfing and ranching, were card playing, crocheting, crosswords, and even Wordle to the end. She always said she was born at the card table.
Nan is preceded in death by her father, Eugene Colin Campbell; mother, Ruth Campbell; Husband, Don Goeger; sisters, Ruth "Carleen" Boynton-Rossi, Claire Jane Blanchard, Leora Jean Lund, and Gladys "Lynette" Antonel; brothers, Jack Diamond Campbell, Eugene "Gene" Colin Campbell, Jr.
