Obituary

Milton Lee Owen, Jr. was born on January 14, 1947, and raised in Austin, TX where he attended McCallum High. Milton graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering in 1970. After honorable discharge from the Texas National Guard, where he served as a parachute rigger and was a top graduate, he returned to UT to complete graduate studies in chemical engineering.

Milton started his career with Union Carbide Corporation in Houston before returning to Austin, TX with Radian Corporation. He served the company with dedication, receiving recognition and accolades over the years for his management of extensive projects nationwide before retiring in 2019. He was a mentor to many, a strong leader, and was never afraid of hard work.

For decades one of Milton's favorite past times was spending time on the water with his two Sons.  They traveled to many lakes across Texas to go fishing. The tales of these adventures would leave his wife, daughter, and grandchildren in awe. These cherished memories and stories will forever remain in our hearts.  He poured his heart and soul into caring for and improving the land in which he leaves for his family.  His family notes that we all relish the countless times we got to spend on the back porch, while having a drink, and enjoying our favorite country songs.  We are forever grateful for the life he built for us.

Milton stayed true to his Methodist faith, acting as a testament to the tenets he learned early in life - qualities cherished and reserved for his family.  He was a devoted Longhorn fan, staying true to his team despite a house divided by Red Raiders, Baylor Bears, and an Aggie.  Those who knew and loved him would describe him as steadfast in love and a true Patriarch to his family.  He was stoic yet genuine, calm and kind, always under control, and lived life with the utmost integrity.  He was a teacher, a best friend, a fishing buddy, a devoted husband, a father, and a genuinely proud grandfather.  Always taking the road less traveled.

He was a loving man survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 46 years, Judy; his son, Travis Owen, daughter Holly, son Mike; granddaughters Hannah, Lauren, and Ellie, and grandsons Aubrey and Aidan.

Milton was preceded in death by his mother and father, Viola and Milton.
