Michael Lee Snively
May 26, 1946-November 9, 2025
Michael Lee Snively of Keller, TX went home to be with the Lord on November 9, 2025.
Michael was born in Oil City, PA on May 26, 1946 to Mazie Ann and Lee Raymond Snively. He grew up surrounded by his family's farms clustered on a street named Snively's Corners. Michael and his parents and sister moved to Grand Prairie, Texas when Michael was nine years old.
Michael was a 1964 graduate of Grand Prairie High School and paused college plans for service in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Michael honorably served stateside at Kincheloe Air Force Base in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
It was here in Michigan where Michael began a loyal career as a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. Michael returned to Texas in the early 70s first to Lancaster where he worked at First National Bank of Dallas. Then he settled back in Grand Prairie, where he continued to faithfully serve the community as a mail carrier at the Grand Prairie Post Office. He enjoyed building relationships with the families and customers on his route. He retired from the US Postal Service in 2005 with 35 years of service to the community.
After moving to Keller/Fort Worth in 2012, Michael attended Keller United Methodist Church.
Michael was a devoted son, husband, father, Grandpa/Gampy and brother. He loved his family, his country, reading, politics, history, golf, sports, traveling, and hitting the road countless times to the Austin area to be present at his grandchildren's programs and events.
Though a man with an economy of words, he always loved to laugh. It gave his family great pleasure to elicit his signature laugh: head thrown back, wheezing. Even into his grandfather years, he retained his mischievous boyish twinkle in his hazel eyes.
He devoted his life to hard work and making sure that his family had everything they ever needed or wanted. He delighted most in his family.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Mazie Ann Snively and Lee Raymond Snively. He is survived by his sister Sandra Jensen and his brother-in-law Thomas Jensen of Grand Prairie, his daughter Rhonda Dees and his son-in-law John Dees of Round Rock and his grandchildren Mazie, Jane and John of Round Rock.
Interment will take place at DFW National Cemetery in December. Memorials may be made in his honor to the Friends of the Grand Prairie Public Library.
