Matthew Joseph
Wiegand
August 28, 1944 – May 29, 2026
Matthew J. Wiegand passed away at the age of 81 on April 29, 2026. Born August 28th, 1944 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana, to Matthew and Wanda Wiegand, Matt grew up with a strong sense of duty and a devotion to family that would define his life.
A proud graduate of Indiana State University, Matt answered the call to serve his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he transitioned into a successful professional career. He began with General Electric in 1969 in Manufacturing Management and concluded with his retirement as a Medical Sales Representative for Scientific Molding Corporation in 2008. Matt was known for his work ethic and integrity, always putting his employees and customers first.
On February 14, 1970, Matt married the love of his life and best friend Nancy. Together, they built a home filled with laughter, adventure, and three children. Matt was a devoted father and grandfather who found his greatest joy in the success and happiness of his family.
Matt is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Wiegand, and their children, Lisa (Mark) Webster of Beach Park, IL, and Joshua (Laura) Wiegand of Woodbury, MN. He leaves behind a legacy of grandchildren, including Maggie and Alyssa Webster; Amelia and Audrey Wiegand; and Jake, Hayden, and Ella, the children of his late son, Brett Wiegand. He is also survived by his six siblings—Judy, Pat, Bill, Mary, Helen, and Tim—and their spouses, along with a large, loving circle of nieces and nephews.
Outside of work, Matt enjoyed many things. Whether he was lining up a putt on the golf course, casting a line while fishing, or exploring new destinations through travel, he embraced every moment. Above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family.
Family and friends are invited to honor Matt’s life and military service during a ceremony held at the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen, Texas. The service will take place on May 21, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM.
