Obituary

Mary was born in Denton, Texas and raised as a young girl in Nocona, Texas, the last stop on the Chisholm Trail before crossing the Red River. Her father "Ike" Myers was in the oil field equipment business and mother, Charlene was a stay at home mom taking care the three siblings, Rick, Linda and Mary.  Mary completed her college education at the University of Texas with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.  She was a member of the Delta Gama sorority.  Shortly after graduation she was employed at Tesoro Petroleum Corporation in San Antonio, Texas.  At one point in time she accepted a transfer to Tesoro's Auburn, Washington office where she served as Human Resources Manager.  During her career she wore many hats in HR; employment, compensation, and medical and health benefits.  She also served on numerous charitable committees and various organizations associated with human resources activities.  She met her husband, Ken at Tesoro and they married on April 30, 1988.  She retired as a Human Resources Manager after 38 ½ years of service.

After retirement Mary and Ken moved to the Sun City community in Georgetown, Texas.  There they enjoyed participating in numerous activities to include: golf, pickleball, bridge, woodworking and dancing.  They had a particular fondness for country western and oldies but goodies dancing venues. Mary also served with several charitable organizations to include Women Helping Others (WHO).  It began with 12 ladies in her neighborhood and has approximately 300 members currently in and around the Sun City footprint.  She began as Secretary and later served as the WHO webmaster designing the club website.  Among other things, Mary was always ready to take a meal to anybody down and out.

She and Ken are members of The Worship Place a Christ-centered interdenominational church serving the community of Sun City and surrounding area.  Beyond weekly worship she helped with receptionist duties and served in several support group activities dealing with special needs.

Mary had a special place in her heart for her pet dogs.  The love between her and them was always evident to anyone witnessing the dogs tails wagging and happy eyes.  Her ability to have them do things in their best interest they didn't particularly didn't want to do was always a joyous experience to both Ken and Mary.

Mary's gift was her ability to display her love and caring nature to all those fortunate to know her.  Experiencing her friendship was special.  She will be thought of and loved in all our living memories.
