Mary Kathryn
Stafford
January 20, 1942 – May 14, 2025
Mary Kathryn Stafford (nee: Nicholson), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2025, in Georgetown, Texas, at the age of 83.
Mary was born on January 20, 1942, in Dallas, Texas, to A.T. and Laura May Nicholson. During her senior year at Baton Rouge High School, she met the love of her life, Ed Stafford. Their remarkable love story spanned over sixty years of marriage and a lifetime of shared memories.
After attending Centenary College and LSU, Mary embraced her greatest calling as a homemaker, pouring her heart into creating a warm and loving home for her family. Her life was a testament to faith, love, and selfless devotion.
A woman of unwavering Christian faith, Mary was a long-time member of CrestView Baptist Church. Her life reflected her deep relationship with Jesus, and she was known for her gentle wisdom, encouragement, and servant's heart. Mary was actively involved in Bible studies and Vacation Bible School. She also took great joy volunteering in the church library, where she shared her love of reading with others.
Mary found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved playing games whether it was cards, Scrabble, or Words with Friends. An avid sewer, she created handmade clothes, quilts, and gifts, often for loved ones or church ministries. She also delighted in treasure hunting at garage sales, always on the lookout for a meaningful find or a thoughtful surprise for someone she cared about. Mary's family and friends find comfort in the assurance of her faith that she is now in the presence of the Lord she served so faithfully. Her legacy of love, compassion, and steadfast faith will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Ed Stafford of Georgetown; her children, Bill Stafford (Kristin) of Wylie, Texas; Susan Cavanaugh (Ken) of Prudenville, Michigan; Mary Morris (Joel) of Keller, Texas; and David Stafford (Alecia) of Oak Harbor, Washington; and her 16 beloved grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Crestview Baptist Church in Mary's name.
