Mary Connors
Nahay
November 27, 1945 – November 20, 2024
Mary Rosalind Connors Nahay, born on November 27, 1945, in Newfoundland, Canada, went to be with her Heavenly Father on November 20, 2024, after a long battle with pneumonia.
Mary was the beloved wife of William John "Bill" Nahay, with whom she shared over 50 years of marriage. Together, they raised four daughters and lived in various places, including Puerto Rico, New York, Virginia, Nebraska, Louisiana, and Ohio, before settling in Texas in 1984.
A devoted homemaker for much of her life, Mary cared deeply for her family. As her children grew older, she worked alongside Bill as his Office Manager. She also pursued her own dreams by earning an associate degree from Austin Community College. Later, she dedicated nearly a decade to Georgetown ISD's Extended School Enrichment Program, where she built curriculum and cared for elementary school children.
After retiring, Mary embraced hobbies such as crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles, and reading. She and Bill enjoyed traveling together on cruises during their downtime. Following Bill's passing and the loss of her youngest daughter Amanda Nahay, Mary continued to give back to her community by working part-time at the Georgetown Y Afterschool program and volunteering with The Caring Place in Georgetown.
A passionate follower of Christ throughout her life, Mary was deeply committed to her faith. Wherever she lived, she connected with local churches and cherished Bible studies with fellow believers. Known for her warm spirit and kind heart, she never met a stranger and brought smiles to those around her.
Mary is survived by her daughters Allison deNijs (grandchildren Julia and Ryan deNijs), Catherine Galloway and son-in-law Chris Galloway (grandson Noah Galloway), and Sarah Chapman and son-in-law Scott Chapman (grandchildren Caleb, Sophia, John, and Michal Chapman). She was preceded in death by her husband Bill and daughter Amanda Nahay.
Funeral services will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown on January 10, 2025, at 2 p.m.
May Mary's memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
