Mary Lou Cowden, of Sun City, Georgetown, Texas passed away on August 16, 2022 at the age of 95. She was born June 23, 1927 in Napa, CA to William Mitchell and Bessie Mitchell. She worked in the DFW area in office supply sales for many years before retiring to Sun City twenty years ago.

Mary Lou was born and raised during the Depression and WW2, was fiercely independent and lived life on her terms. In the course of her life she had lived and traveled all over the world, and was fortunate to have the support and love of her family and many friends during her long life.  Her neighbors in Sun City were especially strong and helped her in so many ways over the years, for which we were all very grateful.

She enjoyed art in all forms and was an accomplished painter. She led an active and energetic life in her retirement in Sun City, and especially enjoyed her trips to the swimming pool and her friends that she met and made there.

She is survived by Alison Cowden (Daughter), Ross Cowden (Son), Deborah Cowden (Daughter-in-law), Timothy Cowden (Son), Kathy Rylander (Daughter-in-law), Katie Cowden (Granddaughter), Lillian and Trevor White (Granddaughter), Thomas and Eelyn Cowden (Grandson), Meg Cowden (Granddaughter), and Keira Cowden (Great-granddaughter).

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in her honor to the American Cancer Society.   We would also like to thank the wonderful people at the Wesleyan Rehab and Assisted Living and Suncrest Hospice for all the help they provided her towards the end.

Mary Lou will be missed by her family, her many friends around the world, and neighbors in Sun City.
