Mary Kay
Henson
November 22, 1937 – June 27, 2024
Mary Kay Henson of San Angelo, TX, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, at Tiffin House, her cherished home away from home. She was 86. Born on November 22, 1937 in San Angelo. Mary Kay was a beacon of warmth and friendliness throughout her life.
Preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Lurline Leatherwood, and her husband, Mike Henson, Mary Kay carried their memory with grace and love. A proud graduate of San Angelo High, Class of 1956, she was honored as "Friendliest Girl," a title that perfectly encapsulated her approach to life. It was here that she also met her first husband, Richard Webb, with whom she had two children and maintained a lifelong friendship even after they separated.
Mary Kay is survived by her loving children and their families: Mark and Sheri Webb, along with their children Tyler, Kaitlyn, and Lindsey; and Kelly and David Chaney, along with their son Justin. She is also survived by her beloved sister, Pat Davis, and her family: Craig, Robyn and Pam. Additionally, Mary Kay leaves behind numerous lifelong friends and their families, all of whom were touched by her generous spirit and unwavering kindness.
Mary Kay's community involvement was heartfelt and extensive. She was an active member of the Philia Club and dedicated countless hours to the Concho Valley Home for Girls, where she received the "Exceptional Volunteer" award for her selfless service. Professionally, she thrived in real estate, built homes, and was passionate about interior decoration. One of her favorite jobs was overseeing "Christmas in April." Here she was able to combine her generous spirit with her professional networks and other skills to bring resources together to repair and improve the homes of needy families. Typical of her approach to life, she also designed and sold beautifully crafted wreaths to help support this work.
A faithful Christian, Mary Kay found joy in music, spending time with friends and family and life on the lake. Her vibrant presence and love for life were evident in everything she did.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Tiffin House and its caregivers, who provided Mary Kay with exceptional care, treating her like family and giving her a warm, loving home in her final year.
A celebration of Mary Kay's life will be held privately with family members. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Concho Valley Home for Girls, www.cvhfg.org in honor of Mary Kay's generous spirit and commitment to helping others.
Mary Kay Henson will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love, kindness, and community service will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
