Mary Anne
Carlile
December 21, 1933 – October 11, 2024
Mary Anne Carlile, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on October 11, 2024, at the age of 90 in Round Rock, Texas. She was born on December 21, 1933, in Winnsboro, Texas to David Ralph Tinney and Alice Carter Tinney. (Mary) Anne was a woman who lived life to the fullest and continues to be deeply loved and missed by those friends and family she left behind.
As a young girl, Anne moved with her family to Houston, Texas. She was a tomboy growing up and continued that adventurous spirit with her love of the outdoors, including fishing and all kinds of sports. She graduated from Reagan High School in 1952 (now known as Heights High School, Houston, Texas). She was trained as a cosmetologist and later pursued administrative roles in the education and energy sectors with Spring Branch Independent School District and South Central Oil Company. She developed meticulous organizational skills which she carried on throughout her life. Anne and her husband Jim retired in the mid-1980s to the Texas Hill Country where they built their dream home on Lake LBJ.
Anne was renowned for her incredibly warm heart, constant positivity, quick wit, and generous spirit, as well as her remarkable strength and resiliency throughout her life. These qualities continued to attract friends and strangers alike, wherever she went throughout the years.
Anne is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Debra (Ed Weinberger) Tolliver, Carla (Gene) Lawrence, and Beth (Gary) Weers. Her legacy extends to her seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Frances Stokely Tinney, one niece, several nephews, stepsons Kevin (Beth) Carlile and Rusty (Mary Ellen) Carlile and their families.
Anne is also survived by her dearest friend of over 60 years, Dene Heath and her husband Bill, Dene's sons, Pat Fowler and Gary Fowler, along with their families. She lovingly referred to Dene as her "sister by heart" and to Pat and Gary as "her boys" from the day they were born. The Fowler/Heath families have always been there for Mom and "her girls".
Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, Jim L. Carlile, her parents David Ralph Tinney and Alice Carter Tinney, her sister Billie Joyce Dodgen, brothers David Ralph Tinney Jr., Larry Carter Tinney, and her nephew, Craig Allen Dodgen.
Anyone that knew Anne quickly learned that she was the epitome of unwavering strength and timeless beauty. She truly loved life and treasured the countless relationships she made through the years. She was and will always be an inspiration to those that crossed paths with her. She formed many true friendships throughout her life with those who were blessed to know her, often extending to caregivers in her later years that truly empowered her to live life to the fullest.
Anne's family meant everything to her. Her three girls, her grandchildren and her "great-grands" brought her tremendous joy and delight. Anne's three girls were her pride and joy. When the girls were young, Anne was a single mother. She worked tirelessly to show them love and make their humble lives joyful while providing safety and security. She passed along her love of God and country, nature, and birds to all of us. She added "In God We Trust" to all of her correspondence. When asked how she was doing, she always replied with, "I am Blessed." She found joy in the simple pleasures of playing games, dominoes and cards, which brought laughter and friendly competition to all who played with her. She proved to be a formidable opponent and was a highly sought after partner!
She loved birds and collected all things related to her feathered friends. She loved all of God's creatures, providing a sanctuary-like area which welcomed them at each residence throughout her life. Anne's natural ability to turn a house into a beautiful home, down to the smallest of details, extended to her personal appearance as well.
She will always be remembered for her kindness, strength and grace.
A Celebration of Life will be held to honor Anne in the spring of 2025.
