It is with great pain and sadness that I announce the passing of my loving mother Marion Catherine Matta. She wasn't just my mom she was my best friend, my companion and my person. She passed away suddenly on July 9th, 2024 at the hospital in Georgetown, TX.  My mom was born and raised in Far Rockaway, NY and moved to Newburgh, NY where she met my father Julio Matta in 1972 and then her job with IBM led her to Georgetown, Texas where she retired from IBM and lived for 30 years.

Growing up in New York made my mom a tough cookie (her nickname was Rocky) but she had a heart of gold.  She would give you the shirt off her back and to me she gave the world. I can only hope to be as good of a mother as she was to me. She was always there for me and her granddaughter Nycolette. She home schooled Nycolette for 16 years and would have continued through the end but she had health issues that got in the way.

My mom was the life the party. She would make sure everyone was having a good time. She loved to dance and always said her tombstone should say "she could dance all night". Mom now that you are pain free I hope you're dancing up a storm.

A time of Visitation will be held at 1:30 PM on Saturday, July 13th, at the chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home. 5600 Williams Dr., Georgetown, TX 78633. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM.
