Born in New Madison, Ohio, her family moved to Nokomis, Florida when Marilyn was a teen.  She married Arthur in 1951 and after attending the University of Florida transferred to the University of Hawaii when Art was stationed there by the Navy.  She graduated in 1953 with a degree in education and after coming home to Florida, she began her career as an elementary school teacher in Lakeland.  Four little boys came along, Dale, Lloyd, Duane and Greg.  They were the light of her life. After 32 years of teaching she retired, and she and Art moved to Georgetown to be near family.

Marilyn was a beloved member of Round Rock Christian Church.  She loved reading, playing the piano and taking care of her kitty, Precious.   What brought her the most joy was being with her family.

She is survived by her sons: Duane (Keri) of Georgetown and Rev. Greg (Rev. Karen) of Glendora, CA.  She also leaves behind her brother, Milton (Betty Jo) Mikesell of Jacksonville, FL and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Sue Simpson of Ooltewah, TN. She had six granddaughters, ten great-grandchildren, and many dear nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Arthur; and sons: Dale and Lloyd.  Even after losing two of her sons early, she maintained her absolute confidence in Christ and His provision in this life and in the better life to come.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Round Rock Christian Church, or Central Christian Church of Glendale, California, or The Pregnancy Help Center in Georgetown.
