Obituary

Margaret Elaine Thrasher Peckham
January 9, 1944 – January 3, 2026

Margaret Elaine "Peggy" Thrasher Peckham, age 81, of Georgetown, TX, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026. She was born on January 9, 1944, in Concord, North Carolina and grew up in neighboring Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Peggy was deeply devoted to family and found great joy in the mutually rewarding relationships with her extended family, including grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as with members of her husband's family. She loved and revered her parents, Fred and Mable Farrar Thrasher, until their passing and cherished her close bond with her brothers, their wives, and children.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Peggy went on to enjoy a long and successful professional career as a legal secretary with ExxonMobil, from which she retired after many years of dedicated service. Peggy displayed cheerful optimism and demonstrated honesty and integrity throughout her professional and personal interactions. She treated those she encountered with respect, often deference, regardless of their station or status.  She worked hard in school, and her career progressed steadily, as those around her recognized her steadfast determination to contribute her utmost to the success of the organization.

But Peggy was not all work and no play.  She enjoyed traveling to other continents and relished learning from other cultures. Music was integral to her life, and she maintained her passion for rock and roll. She enjoyed a spirited political discussion and welcomed debate on the issues of the day.

Peggy was predeceased by her husband, Ross D. Peckham; her parents, Fred Thrasher and Mable Farrar Thrasher; and her brother, James Martin Thrasher.

She is survived by her brother, Farrar Charles Thrasher, and his wife Linda of Concord, North Carolina; her niece, Susan Thrasher Gemeinhardt, and her family of Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida; her nephew Jonathan Stuart Thrasher of Columbus, Ohio; and her nephew James Martin "Marty" Thrasher Jr., and his family of Selma, North Carolina; as well as numerous beloved cousins and extended family members.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Our Hospice House , Belton, Texas.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
