Obituary

On October 14, 1941, in the small town of Leander, TX Margaret Alene Brown was born to Burgess and Julia Haydon, she was the fourth out of seven children. Alene was a fiery redhead who loved her family more than anything else, although the fly swatter was a close second, just ask her siblings. On June 18, 1960, at the young age of 18, she married the love of her life, David J. Brown, and together they built a beautiful life in Georgetown, Texas.

Alene retired from State Farm in the early 90's and began her crafting and 'Granna' era. She found joy in sewing clothes for her grandchildren, quilting blankets for her granddaughters, and painting anything she could find and if you stood there long enough, she would have painted you. She loved to craft for her friends and family, and she was incredibly talented. She was a 'dirt girl' who loved nature, digging in the dirt, working in her flower beds, and piddling around in her little slice of heaven, known as Hat Creek Ranch. You would often find her outdoors working in her flower beds and whispering to owls, just ask us about Sammy. She loved her church family at Victory Baptist, Salado and enjoyed listening to her grandson's, The Brown Brother's, as well as The Rochester's. She loved decorating for the holidays; fun fact, she has almost every Hallmark Christmas ornament that was ever made, which she kept in the original box, and she would painstakingly unbox every year and reminisce about which grandchild she bought it for. She enjoyed sitting in her sunroom, with her devoted husband, watching her spinning Christmas tree, but mostly she loved watching her family dancing around the Christmas tree. Granna was the heart and soul of our family.

Alene is preceded in death by her dear parents, Burgess and Julia Haydon; brother, Raymond; and sister, Ruby.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, David; son, Brad (Connie); son, Steve (Jennifer); grandchildren: Haley Brown, Jessica Dell'Ora (Erick), Justin Brown, Cody Brown (Amy), Jenna Perkins (Brandon), Joshua Brown, and Jake Brown; great-grandchildren: Dominic and Adeline Perkins, Emelia, Guinevere, and Dahlia Dell'Ora; her amazing, loving, and praying siblings: Doris Simpson, Carolyn Sunstrom (Ron), John Haydon (Kay), George Haydon; sister- in-law, Evelyn Brown (Joe); and many wonderful loving nieces and nephews.

Honored to serve as pallbearers includes her precious grandsons: Erick Dell'Ora, Brandon Perkins, Justin Brown, Cody Brown, Joshua Brown, and Jake Brown.

Honorary pallbearers include her loving nephews: Jody Brown, Brent Brown, Brett Brown, Danny Haydon, Terry Sherman, Greg Ray, Gary Ray, Steve Hines, Jason Haydon, and John Ross Haydon.
