Obituary

Louis DeRossi, 61, left us peacefully on July 6, 2024.

The eldest of three sons, Louis was born in Athens, Greece on October 9th,1962 to Joseph and Koula DeRossi. In his younger years, he followed the family and his father Joseph's career with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES).  This included homes in Massachusetts, Kansas, Kentucky, The United Kingdom and Texas - all by 1977.

These early travels left an indelible impression on Louis as he set up roots with the family in Duncanville, TX.  Louis graduated from Duncanville High School in 1980 and went on to earn a degree in Mechanical Engineering at Texas Tech University in 1985.  It was in these years that he formed cherished lifelong friendships.

During his time at Texas Tech he met Tracy Bean. The two dated through their college days and would go on to marry in 1987. They welcomed their only child, Samantha, in 1990. Even after their separation, Louis and Tracy remained good friends throughout the rest of his life.

Louis spent many years in the Telecommunications Industry including stints in Midland, San Antonio, Jackson, MS and Dallas. Most recently, he completed several years of work throughout the entire U.S., fittingly, seeing many of the places he lived as a youth.

Throughout his life, Louis could always be found tinkering with his mechanical "toys" whether it was his Motocross dirt bikes in the late 70's and 80's to his cars and classic motorcycles. He also lent his mechanical hand to many a friend and family member.

Louis had an infectious personality and a keen intellect and knowledge of many things, especially history, sports, music and all things nostalgia. Also keen was his sense of humor.  Rarely was there a time that he didn't leave the entire room (whether one person or many) in stitches.

Most of all, Louis adored his daughter Samantha and was a truly loyal son, brother, uncle and friend. He was also a friend to all animals, especially his beloved dogs.  He was always willing to help out anyone in need no matter what time, day or circumstance.  He will be missed by many and always in our hearts.

Louis is survived by his mother Koula, daughter Samantha (Jonathan Selby), brothers Jim (Kristen), Alex (Mara) and their children, Alex (Gabby), Leslie, and Troy, as well as many extended family members and friends alike.

Louis is preceded in death by his father, Joseph DeRossi.
