Obituary

Lloyd P. Lindsay

May 25, 1938 – July 25, 2021

On Sunday, July 25, 2021, Lloyd Lindsay, loving husband, dad, and Pepa, passed away at his home in Walburg, TX at the age of 83.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.  Lloyd was born on May 25, 1938, in Endicott, NY to Keith and Vera Lindsay.  He grew up in the Campville, NY area and graduated from Owego Free Academy.  Lloyd married Nancy Hancock on January 5, 1974, and they raised three children:  Andrea, Jason, and Patty.

Lloyd was an Army Veteran who was proud of his service to his country.  He served on active duty in 1961 at Fort Meade, obtaining the rank of Sergeant.  He continued his service to the nation as a reservist until 1967.  His pride extended to supporting others in their military service, selecting Wounded Warrior Project as his charity of choice when a fundraiser was held in his honor.

After his high school graduation, Lloyd worked 35 years for IBM, earning an Associate's Degree as part of an apprenticeship program to become a tool maker, then finishing his career in the procurement department.  Upon retirement from IBM, Lloyd started his own business, Lindsay Tool & Machine, where he successfully built prototypes until his second retirement.  Lloyd had his own machine shop and a wood working shop at home where he spent countless hours just "piddling" around.

Lloyd was a perfectionist, as everyone knew.  He took pride in everything he did and enjoyed cycling, woodworking, metal working, hunting, gunsmithing, eating, and most of all, spending time with his family and friends.  He was an avid cyclist and rode 150+ miles per week, totaling the equivalent of riding around the world twice.  He placed in the Senior Olympics, earning a Silver medal in his age division as well as countless other medals in cycling events.  Additionally, he qualified for Nationals in several races.  Some of Lloyd's favorite rides were around Williamson County as well as across Texas, Oklahoma, and Nebraska.

Lloyd had great passion for guns and gunsmithing, which he enjoyed collecting and fixing.  He loved to take others out to his shop to show his projects or help with one of theirs.  He had a joy for woodworking, and a trip to his shop seemed to make time stand still while watching him, a true craftsman, gently breathe life into a piece of walnut from his own farm, spalted maple he had brought back from New York, or cherry wood from Pennsylvania.  He could turn a gnarled, bark covered branch into something truly amazing.  He enjoyed making bowls, toothpick holders, candlestick holders and bracelets, amongst other things.  You were truly blessed when you were a recipient of a Lloyd Lindsay wood product.  The real treasure was spending time with him out in his shop, one of his favorite places to be.

Lloyd is predeceased by his parents Keith and Vera Lindsay.  Surviving him is his wife of 47 years - Nancy, daughters - Andrea Daniell (Scott) of Florence and Patty Graham (Austin) of Georgetown, and son - Jason Weisberg (Cecilia) of Round Rock, and grandchildren - Cody Daniell, Hayley Daniell, Tristan Graham, Hudson Tuma, Holden Tuma, Hyatt Tuma and Teagan Graham, Ian Warr, and sister - Leila Merims of Oregon.  He is also survived by many nieces and a nephew.

Per Lloyd's wishes, his ashes will be spread on his gun range (his happy place) at the Lindsay Farm in Walburg Texas at 1pm on August 15, 2021, followed by a celebration of life gathering at the Walburg Community Center at 2pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family would love for you to honor Lloyd by donating to the Wounded Warrior Project in his name.  All the thoughts and prayers are greatly appreciated during this difficult time.

"The Lord has given them special skills as engravers, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple, and scarlet thread on fine linen cloth, and weavers. They excel as craftsmen and as designers."  ~Exodus 35:35 NLT
