Linda Rae
Fredrickson
November 11, 1946 – August 6, 2024
Linda "Skeeter" Fredrickson, 77, of Georgetown, Texas, passed away on August 6, 2024.
Skeeter was born in Dexter, Iowa, on November 11, 1946. She spent her early adult years in Iowa and had three children before moving to Arizona in the early 1970's. In 1983, Skeeter married Allen Fredrickson, the love of her life. Together, they spent their time working hard and raising their blended family with six kids. When she wasn't working, preparing delicious homemade meals, and raising kids, she enjoyed going scuba diving in Cozumel and traveling the country on the back of Allen's motorcycle.
Skeeter will be greatly missed for many reasons.
She was the perfect wife for Allen. She was happy to let him take the spotlight while she ran the show from the sidelines. For over four decades, she listened to him recycle the same ten jokes and never chastised him about it. She didn't correct how he consistently mispronounced words such as ibuprofen and cinnamon. When he grew frustrated at the slightest infraction of a fellow driver, she didn't raise her voice; she would simply say, "You know they can't hear you, right?"
Skeeter was a great mother and grandmother. She raised kind and independent children who knew how deeply she loved them. Each of her children was her favorite, and she never missed an opportunity to tell them how proud they made her. She let them be themselves and celebrated their differences. Skeeter was no pushover; she expected all her kids to try their best, pull their weight, and behave respectfully. She didn't raise her voice or repeat herself endlessly. If you didn't pick up the dirty clothes in your bedroom, you may come home to find them thrown over the back fence. As the kids grew up and moved away, she remained a constant and steady presence in their lives. Skeeter also loved her children's spouses and counted them as her children, too. She was always there with a listening ear or words of encouragement for all her children and grandchildren. She wasn't one to offer an unsolicited opinion, but she gave sage advice when asked.
She was a sincere, loyal, and trustworthy friend, fiercely loving all her people. No matter what she was cooking, she would make a second pan to deliver to a neighbor or friend. Your secrets were always safe with her, and when you were wrong, she would tell you. She had a way of anticipating your needs and lightening your load when you didn't even realize the weight you were carrying.
Mom, if you can see this, we know you never wanted to be the center of attention. You didn't want a funeral service, so we honored your wishes. We know you would have preferred that we not print this message. However, we felt it was important that we honor you and the impact you made in our lives by loving all of us so well. You are loved and missed. You were one of a kind.
