Linda Jean Anderson was born on June 24, 1947, in Austin, TX and passed away peacefully on November 10, 2022.
Linda was a proud native Austinite, spending her entire life in Austin, TX. She graduated from McCallum High School, attended the University of Texas where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and later, earned her Master's in Education. Linda was a first-grade teacher for thirty years in the AISD at T.A. Brown Elementary and Summit Elementary. She touched the lives of hundreds of children and taught them to read. After retiring, she tutored elementary children.
Linda was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teacher's Society as well as a member of the Texas Retired Teachers Association.
Her faith was very important to her as she was a devout Lutheran. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Austin for most of her life. She later was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Austin and was currently a member at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin. For many years, she enjoyed attending BSF where she made many good friends.
Linda was an excellent seamstress and quilter and was also talented in crocheting, knitting and jewelry making. She was an avid Longhorn fan and enjoyed watching their games.
Although Linda did not have any children of her own, she loved her nieces, nephew and later her great niece and great nephew as if they were her own. She showered thaem with love and was always very generous. Family was extremely important to her.
Linda was preceded in death by her father, George Anderson, mother, Olevia Anderson and brother-in-law, Paul Horst. She is survived by her brother, George Michael Anderson and wife, Pat Anderson, her sister, Debbie Horst, her nieces, Lauren Horst and Jennifer Anderson, her nephew, Nathan Horst and wife, Melissa Horst and her great niece, Skyler Horst and great nephew, Alex Horst.
All of her family and friends will miss Linda more than words can say.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin on December 3 at 1:00 pm. All are welcome to attend.
