Obituary

Lillian Hagens Zimmermann, 83, of Georgetown TX, passed away on Monday, August 17, 2020 in Georgetown surrounded by her loving husband and children.  Lillian was born on Dec 27, 1936 to Emil and Dora Hagens in the farming community of Swiss Alp near Schulenburg.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Dora Hagens and her brothers George Hagens, Rev Clarence Hagens and Nolan Hagens.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Gilbert Zimmermann and by sons, Michael Zimmermann, Robert Zimmermann and daughter, Dianna Vaughan and husband Mark all of Georgetown TX.  Other survivors include granddaughters Tiffany Zimmermann and Shelby Styles; grandsons Michael Zimmermann and Brandon Zimmermann.

Lillian attended Washington Country School in Swiss Alp, LaGrange Junior High and High School where she was a Drum Major and twirler.  She was a graduate of Durham's Business College in Austin.

Lillian raised three children; living in Victoria, Houston and Pflugerville.  She also cared for her parents when they moved off the farm.  Finding themselves empty nesters, Lillian and Gilbert lived in Bertram for several years before moving to Georgetown in 1996.

Throughout her career, Lillian worked for Tele-Tena, Brede Inc, Texas Comptroller's Office, Immanuel Lutheran Church and Embassy Suites.  She was an excellent organizer, overseeing the Zimmermann and Hagens family reunions for years and was one of the original Pflugerville Deutschen Fest founding committee members.

After retiring, Lillian moved to Sun City in Georgetown and enjoyed gardening, riding around in their golf cart and spoiling her grandchildren and grandpuppies.  She enjoyed camping with family her entire life and later she and Gilbert loved camping in their travel trailer.  She also loved travelling, having gone on numerous cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii.  She loved sharing photos and recalling her visits to Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, England, and the Netherlands.  She always looked forward to annual trips to Las Vegas with extended family.

Lillian actively attended Hill Country Bible Church of Georgetown and treasured friendships she had made with her Sun City neighbors and Church community.

Special thanks to Dr. Kueck and her team from Texas Oncology for taking care of Lillian through her brave fight with ovarian cancer for the past 3 years. Also, special thanks to the team at Legacy Assisted Living for all the love and kindness they showed Lillian.  Everyone treated her like their adopted Mom.
