Lee Mcadory
Jr.
September 13, 1934 – August 11, 2024
H. Lee McAdory, Jr., born on September 13, 1934, in Kosciusko, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on August 11, 2024, in Georgetown, Texas, at the age of 89.
The beloved son of Homer and Myrtle McAdory, Lee grew up in a close-knit family alongside his three sisters: Faye Jordan, Ann Aldridge, and Joan Walker. He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years, Betty Chong McAdory; his son Steven Lee McAdory and daughter-in-law Beverly Ann McAdory; two cherished grandchildren, Austin Lee McAdory and Julie Ann McAdory; and his sister Joan Walker.
Lee's life was a testament to dedication, resilience, and love. During his three years of honorable service in the U.S. Army, he was stationed in Wahiawa, Hawaii, where he met Betty Chong. Their connection blossomed into a lifelong partnership that began with their wedding on December 23, 1957. The ceremony was held at a home in Bellaire, Texas amidst a stunning display of white poinsettias and red anthuriums from Hawaii-a reflection of the beauty and joy that would define their union.
Following their marriage, Lee built an impressive career with Continental Oil Company (now ConocoPhillips), dedicating 37 years to the organization. His commitment to personal growth was equally remarkable; while working full-time to support his family, he pursued higher education at night. On January 25, 1964, he proudly earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Houston-a milestone that underscored his perseverance and determination.
In retirement, Lee embraced life's quieter pleasures alongside Betty. They moved to Hendersonville, NC, where they found peace in the cool mountain air and the serene beauty of the Smoky Mountains. Together they explored nature's wonders and occasionally traveled back to Hawaii-a place that held deep sentimental value for them both. Later in life, they returned to Texas to be closer to family and settled into the Sun City retirement community in Georgetown. They would enjoy trips back to Houston to see both their grandkids participate in many sports activities.
Lee will be remembered for many things: his sharp wit that brought laughter to those around him; his boundless generosity that touched countless lives; and above all else, his unwavering devotion to Betty-a love story spanning more than six decades.
Though he has departed this world physically, he is with his Heavenly Father and in the joyous presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. His memory will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew him best. May his legacy bring comfort and peace to all who were fortunate enough to share in his journey through life.
Arrangements for funeral and burial services to be held in Hawaii, will be planned at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for contributions to go to the Alzheimer's Research Association or The Parkinson's Foundation .
