Leda Shalom
Ketelhohn-Traub
December 27, 1969 – May 13, 2025
Leda Ketelhohn-Traub, 55, of Georgetown, Texas passed peacefully on May 12, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by the family for whom she always fought so fiercely.
Born December 27, 1969 in Waukesha, Wisconsin, Leda was the daughter of the late Linda Sue Philpitt and the late Leland Philpitt. In 1999 she headed south with the love of her life, Daniel Ketelhohn, their blended family of five children, and a heart full of ambition, planting new roots in the
piney woods of East Texas.
Much of Leda's life was spent caring for her mother, a role she embraced with tenderness and grit. That devotion defined her: she was kind, she was caring, and she was a fighter. Growing up with little, she fought for every inch she gained—then turned around and fought just as hard to give her daughters the opportunities she never had. Because of her, college doors opened, and dreams felt reachable.
When she could steal a moment for herself, Leda headed for the water, the woods, or the mountains. Whether pitching a tent in mountain air, roasting marshmallows beside a beach bonfire, or strolling Bahamian sands at sunrise, the outdoors was her cathedral. Back home she was
happiest in the kitchen, turning simple ingredients into feasts that filled the house with irresistible aromas and the warm buzz of family chatter.
Leda is survived by her husband Daniel Ketelhohn; her daughters Ariel Traub, Nicole Traub, and Danielle Fails; her step-daughter Kati Ketelhohn; and eleven treasured grandchildren: Jordan Miles, Karma Ketelhohn, Kaden Leaf, Madyson Leaf, Lucien Leaf, Abigail Fails, Charlotte Fails, Caroline Gilbert, Oliver Gilbert, Kaylee Whitten, and Dianne Whitten. She also leaves her brother Stacy Philpitt his wife, Claudia Philpitt, and their eight children—Andrew, Mathew, Amanda, Landon, Megan, Noah, Sara, and Summer—along with a wide circle of friends who will forever remember her warmth and humor.
She was preceded in death by her parents Linda Sue Philpitt and Leland Philpitt, and her ex-husband, Michael Allen Traub.
A private family gathering will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home on Friday, May 16, 2025. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to any indigenous charity of your choice.
Leda's life was a testament to resilience wrapped in kindness. She taught us that compassion is strength, that every sunrise over the ocean is worth chasing, that a campfire's glow can heal a heavy heart, and that the truest measure of a life is the love you pour into others. Her laughter
will echo in beach-side breezes, mountain pines, and family kitchens for generations to come.
