Lawrence Collins Ewing, Sr., 85, of Georgetown, TX entered into eternal rest on June 3, 2024.

Larry was born in Houston, Texas on March 19, 1939 to Earl Lawrence Ewing and Josephine Driscoll Ewing. He is survived by wife Mary "Barrie" Hensley Ewing, sons Lawrence C. Ewing, Jr. (Stacy) and Gregory Hensley Ewing (Tanya); daughter Kathryn Ewing Hayes (Bert) and grandchildren Taylor Kirkhart; Valerie Ewing, Trevor Ewing; Jane Hayes and Hank Hayes as well as great grandson Tommy Kirkhart.

Larry attended St. Thomas High School where he was an Eagle scout and the University of St. Thomas where he was student body president. He met Barrie Hensley in high school on a triple blind date, they dated throughout college and were married in 1961. They subsequently moved to San Antonio and Butte, Montana before returning to Houston in 1964 where they raised their family and where Larry began his 35 year career in the insurance business prior to moving to Austin in 1984. He was an avid University of Houston football fan, a team he grew fond of while ushering for their games when he was in the Boy Scouts. Fishing in Port Aransas and researching his Irish and Italian heritage were two of his favorite pastimes. Larry was active in various social clubs in Sun City and volunteered with the St. Vincent De Paul Society.

A Memorial Mass is planned for Tuesday, June 11 at 11AM at Santa Rosa de Lima Catholic Church in Florence with a luncheon to follow directly after the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Santa Rosa Food Pantry/Outreach 6571 FM 970 Florence, TX 76527.
