Laverne Jean Wagner Webb
July 18, 1938 - May 7, 2026

Laverne Jean Wagner Webb was born on July 18, 1938, in Pharr, Texas, a cherished daughter of Lawrence Wagner and Vivian Cocke Wagner. A proud graduate of PSJA High School's Class of 1956, she went on to earn her degree from Pan American University. Laverne dedicated more than thirty years to teaching-a calling that reflected her intelligence, patience, and deep love for learning and children.

She met the love of her life, Phillip Osborne Webb, Sr., at the Roll Off Skating Rink in McAllen, Texas. They married on June 4, 1960, and built a life grounded in faith, family, and service while raising their two sons, Phil Jr. and Russell Lawrence Webb.

Laverne's faith was the foundation of her life. She found joy in singing in church choirs, teaching children's Sunday School, and lending her time and heart to Vacation Bible School. She was known for her gift of conversation, quick wit, warm humor, and a love of travel that enriched every life she touched. During the last year and a half of her life, she lived with her son and shared treasured companionship as one of the "golden girls" alongside Ruth Pritchard and Mary Ruth Holland.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Phil; her son, Phil Webb Jr.; her brother, Gerald Lawrence Wagner; and her sister‑in‑law, Judy Wagner Belver (Troy).

Laverne is survived by her son, Russell Webb (Sherry Holland Webb); her sister, Mary Ann Wagner Collier (Dwight); her sister‑in‑law, Sharron Newbury; her grandchildren, Taylor Lauren Webb, Nicole Webb Martinez (Jared), Trent Logan Webb (Alexandra Keene Webb), Trevor Landon Webb, Amanda Lee Webb, and Tatum Lindsey Webb; and her great‑granddaughter, Blair Ella Webb. She also leaves behind beloved nieces, nephews, cousins, and their families, all of whom she adored.

Laverne's wish for her family is that they continue their strong bonds and create many more wonderful memories together. Her legacy endures through the family she loved so deeply and the countless lives she touched as a teacher, a friend, and a devoted matriarch.

She leaves one final invitation-to join her one day in heaven by accepting Christ as your Savior.
