Laura Sue
Welch
December 25, 1941 – April 22, 2025
Laura Sue Welch entered the arms of her loving Lord & Savior on April 22, 2025.
She was born to Mary Loyce and Orvis Wesley Sanford in Garrison, Texas on Christmas Day 1941 in the home of her precious grandmother, Lillian Rucker.
Laura Sue was a loving mother to her children and their families, Mary Sue and husband, Steve Shelton, Marion Jasper Weaver III, Sandy and husband, Buddy Reitzel & Todd Weaver and wife, Jennifer.
She was very involved in numerous activities with her children. She was a school crossing guard, a troop leader and Cookie Chairman for the Girl Scouts, a baseball mom, a Carlettes drill team mom, a dance mom and so much more. She was also an incredibly talented seamstress, having made many of her childrens' favorite pieces. Square dancing was a favorite activity she enjoyed for many years. She was always beautifully dressed for every dance in her fancy handmade square dance attire. She also served as Chaplain for her square dance teams and a member of The Gideons International sharing the love of Jesus Christ. Laura was a loyal member of Crestview Baptist Church and a retired United States Postal Service Postmaster.
She was a caring sister that loved her siblings, Jackie Pace, Bruce and Cheryl Sanford and Liz and Kenneth Tripp. She had a special love for her nieces and nephews and they all adored her.
She cherished her grandchildren Christopher Shelton, Jamie and Kristy Weaver, Stephanie Weaver, Ashlyn and Dustin Kiser, Caleb Shelton (waiting at the pearly gates for Grandma Sue), Brandon Reitzel and Jacob Weaver and her great grandchildren, Evelynn & Amelia Holder, Mason, Hadlee & Harper Weaver, Cooper Shelton, River, Arrow & Olive Shelton & Hayes Kiser.
