Laura Rebecca Shelton
January 4, 1953 – August 16, 2025
She had a smile that would light up the world. She loved fiercely and without hesitation – unconditionally, from deep within her soul. Her heart carried the burden of all – she felt everything and like the true warrior she was, she fought with valor and integrity. She was our protector and our comforter. She was our counselor and our guide. She was the center of us – the glue that kept, and will continue to keep us all together.
Inspired by the beauty in all things, she was passionate about everything she did. She loved her animals with such tenderness, and found joy in the beauty of nature – especially in her gardens, where butterflies seemed to danced only for her. Creativity poured out of her. It showed up in the little thoughtful gifts she'd surprise us with, the songs she would sing, the art she would make, and the sweet treats she always loved to share. All of this came straight from her heart. They were pieces of her love that created memories we'll hold on to forever.
Laura was born on January 4, 1953, in San Francisco, California to Archie and Betsy Michaelsen. From the very beginning, her life was marked by kindness, resilience, and a deep care for others. She carried those qualities with her through every chapter of her life and leaves us with a legacy built upon her foundation of love, laughter and faith.
She poured her soul into her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than being surrounded by those she loved most. Laura is survived by the love of her life, her husband Glenn Shelton, her beloved children Lisa, Rick, Tammy and Bobby, her step children, Tom and Shannon and her 9 grandsons and 4 granddaughters, her sister Cindy and Arden, and many others who loved her. She is now in heaven, joyfully in peace with her father, mother and sister.
She will be deeply missed, but her love will live on forever in our hearts and the hearts of those who were blessed to know her. It's time to fly, butterfly 🦋.
