Obituary

Kenneth Wayne Standridge, the man with a heart as big as Texas and a spirit as indomitable as a wild mustang, rode off into the sunset on July 8, 2024. He was 70 years young and resided on what he lovingly called Harmony Hill in Florence, Texas. Born under the hot Texan sun on August 8, 1953, Kenneth was a force of nature from the get-go.

Kenneth never met a challenge he didn't face head-on, whether it was wrestling with the wild oil rigs in Louisiana or owning his own concrete and roofing business. Later on, he took the reins at Isbell Construction, steering his crew with the ease of a seasoned cowboy before hanging up his hat at the young age of 67.

A Baptist by faith, Kenneth didn't need a steeple to show his spirituality; he lived it daily in his kind deeds and the love he spread. Our own John Wayne of the great outdoors, Kenneth was happiest when he was hunting, fishing, or just breathing in that fresh country air. He bled Dallas Cowboys blue and Texas Longhorns burnt orange and could outwit anyone at Wheel of Fortune or outsmart them on Jeopardy.

Kenneth's road trips to Santa Fe with his beloved wife, Karen, were legendary-part scenic drive, part love story on wheels. And let's not forget his Dodge Hemi, his pride and joy, a ride that was almost as smooth and powerful as his own personality.

Leaving behind a posse that includes his wife of nearly 21 years, Karen Brizendine Standridge; daughters Audrey Chambers and her husband Bill, Farah Anderson and her husband Tom, and Crystal Standridge; stepsons David and Brian Ross; siblings Ray Standridge, Margaret Holbrook, and Shirley Atkinson; and his beloved mother-in-law, Margaret Brizendine; six grandkids, and one great-grandchild with two more recruits on the way. He was preceded in the great roundup by his parents, William and Doris Standridge, and his brother, Gene Standridge.

Gather 'round to tip your hats and celebrate Kenneth's life on July 27th in the Chapel of Ramsey Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. As per the family's request, there will be no visitation or viewing. Burial will follow the funeral service at the Brizendine Cemetery at Gabriel Mills, 2604 County Road 236, Liberty Hill, TX 78642.

Kenneth's legacy ain't just in the things he did; it's in the laughter he shared, the lessons he taught, and the wide-open spaces he leaves in our hearts. Happy trails, Kenneth, until we meet again.
