Kenneth Ray Lewis, age 77, passed away February 18, 2022 in Georgetown, Texas.
Ken was born to parents Flora Lemon and Marvin A. Lewis on December 7th, 1944 in Mena, Arkansas. He attended the local Mena schools, graduating in 1962. His great love was playing sports, especially basketball, baseball, and football. He was offered basketball scholarships at several colleges, but chose to play at Henderson State University in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. He was the first in his family to attend college and he wished to play games close to Mena so his parents could attend.
After graduation, Ken joined the Army in 1966. While in the Army he served in the Vietnam War and the Iraq war and was a part of the Green Berets. Of some of his assignments, the two most notable were Bangkok, Thailand and Okinawa, Japan. He retired after 30 years of service as a
Command Sergeant Major. During his career, he was decorated with the Legion of Merit and the Bronze Star medals. Then he moved to Georgetown, Texas to pursue a career in real estate where he served his community for another 25 years.
Ken is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 35 years Dinah Gregg Lewis, his daughter-in-law Tatia Lewis and brother Stelvin Lewis.
He is survived by his partner Miriam Hussey of Georgetown, son Marvin S. Lewis of Pflugerville, granddaughters Aleena and Juliet Lewis of Pflugerville, sister Melba Davis of Mena, Arkansas, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be given to the charity of your choice. A private burial service will be held at a later date.
