Obituary

Kay Eudy Caperton died on Monday, March 2, 2026. She passed in the presence of pouring love from her two children: her daughter Joey laying at her side, and her son Christian holding her hand.

Kay was born on November 23rd, 1941, and was 84 at the time of her passing. She was born in Lamesa, TX, and passed away while living in Georgetown, TX.

Kay graduated from Permian High School in Odessa, TX as a member of its first graduating class in 1960. She then went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in education from Texas Tech University, graduating in 1964. Next, she began a career as a teacher in elementary education. Kay returned to education as a substitute teacher when her children had both entered college.

She was preceded in death by Beckham and Jessie Fields, her grandparents; Howard and Jo Dell Eudy, her parents; and Pam Eckels, her sister. She is survived by her son, Christian of Chicago, Illinois; and her daughter, Joey of Georgetown, Texas.

She is remembered for being the most giving person anyone knew, always putting others before herself. She was a devout Methodist, and fulfilled a lifelong dream of making a pilgrimage to Jerusalem. She loved volunteering, whether it was for her church or for Meals On Wheels. She loved to spoil the dogs she had over the course of her life, they were like family members to her. She took pride in gardening, always working in her yard, right up to her passing. But most importantly, she treasured time with family members. Family was of the utmost importance to Kay.

Kay leaves behind a legacy of selflessness. Her son and daughter will carry that forward in their lives for honor and adoration of their mother. Christian and Joey ask that to honor memories of Kay, please consider giving volunteer time to a charitable effort of your choosing, as Kay often did.
