Obituary

Kathryn Elaine Hall née Engels died on May 2, 2025 in Georgetown, Texas. She was 75. Kathy was born in Edinburg, Texas on October 3, 1949. She graduated from high school in Edinburg in 1967, and attended Pan Am University. She later attended classes at Austin Community College and the University of Texas at Austin.

Kathy had a daughter in 1969, Kimberly Elaine Nicol, from her first marriage. She married Ronald Vincent Hall in 1979. They were together until her death.

Kathy worked for the State of Texas for 29 years, starting at the Department of Public Welfare, and ending her career at the Texas Department of Families and Protective Services. She departed State employment briefly in the early 1980s to work in a Tandy store selling Tandy computers in their brief bid for home computer dominance. She then returned to State employment.

She loved quilting and created many beautiful quilts. Kathy purchased a longarm quilting machine and ran her Quilt Treats quilting business part time, creating some quilts from scratch for clients, and quilting other client quilts created by them.

She loved telling stories, with her arms and hands animated along with the story. She was a beloved wife, mother, sister, cousin, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a delightful person with a happy smile, a good sense of humor and an infectious laugh. She is missed.

Kathy was predeceased by her parents, Dolores Joyce and Frank George Engels, Jr. of Spicewood, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald Hall, daughter Kimberly Nicol, stepson Jason Nicholas Hall and spouse Naomi, her brother and spouse Frank and Laurie Engels III of Point Venture, sister and spouse Linda and John Reed of Round Rock, grandchildren Jocelynn and Scott, as well as great grandchildren, nephews and cousins.

Kathy preferred a cremation with no funeral service. There may be a celebration of life gathering at a future date to be determined.
