Kathleen Ann
Craig
August 10, 1950 – July 4, 2023
Kathleen Craig, 72, passed away on July 4, 2023, with her family lovingly by her side.
Kathy Craig was born on August 10, 1950 in Borger, TX, to Walt Templeton and Virginia Templeton. They moved soon after to Liberal, KS, and then ended up in Texhoma, OK where her Father fulfilled his dream of opening his own general store after working many years for JC Penney. They opened Templeton Department Store in 1955. Kathy and her sister spent many hours in the family store, especially at Christmas time when they offered free gift wrapping. Kathy was taught good work ethics at the store which she carried with her through her entire life.
Kathy graduated from Texhoma High School in 1968 as Valedictorian. She was very active in the Lutheran Church. During high school, she was a cheerleader, played clarinet in the band and was on the basketball team. Kathy was crowned Miss Texhoma in 1967.
She started her career at State Farm as a Claims Adjuster and went on to work at Annie Purl Elementary as a Substitute P.E. Teacher for 16 years. Kathy finished out her career at The Georgetown Project, where she worked for 18 years.
Kathy met her future husband Don at her sister's wedding when she was 16 years old. Their first date was July 2, 1968 at a dance in Stratford, TX. Don knew Kathy was "the one" after their first kiss. Don proposed to Kathy by asking if she wanted to go with him to Austin. Kathy married Gary "Don" Craig in January of 1970. She was always grateful to Don for rescuing her from a "one horse town". They eventually settled in Georgetown, TX. The couple had 2 children, Holly Pride and Angie Seguin.
Kathy was strong willed and had an enormous heart. She was generous and brave. She was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained through all of her life experiences: P.E. teacher, baker, contractor, seamstress, gardener, photographer, DIY crafter. She could build almost anything with Don at her side. They built everything including home additions, barn garage, "she shed", and several chicken coops for their daughters. It's hard to say if her favorite tool was a spatula or a crowbar as her love of baking was only matched by her love of project demolition. Kathy loved swimming, cooking, delivering food to friends, making cards and the beach. Kathy taught Don how to dance and that became their favorite fun thing to do on weekends for 30+ years. Kathy spent countless hours with "The Wady Birds" (We Ain't Dead Yet), a close group of longtime friends that went on many trips together and met weekly for "choir practice" - a chance to connect and spend time together that was so important to her.
Kathy was very active in her church and developed many long-lasting friendships from their 35 years at Faith Lutheran. She served as a Greeter Captain for 25 years and made hundreds of homemade cards for parishioners.
She will be remembered for all of the heart she shared with her friends and family. When her time came, she carried herself with dignity and strength. She will be missed dearly.
Kathy will be greatly missed by her husband Gary "Don" Craig and two daughters Holly Pride (husband Justin Pride) and Angie Seguin (husband Brett Seguin); two grandchildren Morgan Pride and Tristen Pride; and "grand-dogs" and "grand-chickens" as Kathy affectionately referred to. No visit was complete without a milkbone treat from Kathy for each pup.
Kathy is preceded in death by her parents Walt Templeton and Virginia Templeton and sister Sandi Mitchell.
