Obituary

Joy Bohanan, age 75, passed away peacefully at her home in Georgetown, Texas on Friday, August 23, 2019. She was born in Georgetown, on December 20, 1943 to her father and mother, Samuel E. "Ham" and Marguriette (Montgomery) Priest of Florence. She was married to Harold Joe Bohanan for 50 years. The two were married on May 10, 1969 in Florence.

Joy graduated from Florence High School in 1962. She worked as a secretary for the Special Education Department at GISD, displaying a wonderful knack for solving problems. Joy lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as chatting with her family and friends, reading, cooking, painting, sewing, spending time with her grandsons, attending ball games, church services, and activities. She had an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

She is survived by her husband, Joe; two sisters: Sandra Etheridge and Kathy Davis; two sons, Joel and Justin Bohanan; two grandsons, Hunter and Ethan Bohanan; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family, friends and others whose lives Joy touched are invited to the graveside service at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 31st, 2019 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, 701 Smith Creek Road, near Southwestern University, in Georgetown. The memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at Gabriel Oaks Church of Christ, 408 Morrow St, Georgetown.
