Joshua Lance Davidson
**April 15, 1982 - November 27, 2025**
We lost Josh on Thanksgiving—November 27th, 2025. He was 43, and if you knew him at all, you know he lived every single one of those years like he was made of rubber and mischief.
Born in Freeport, Texas to Dwight and Susie Davidson, Josh never met an adventure he didn't want to turn into a story. From his wild California days with his brother (seriously, ask us in person—some things don't belong in print), to fly fishing the San Gabriel, to hunting for the perfect rocks with his boy Sylas, Josh squeezed joy out of everything.
Music was his soul. He'd swear up and down he made it just for himself, but the second you walked in the door? "Hey, check this out," followed by him bobbing his head like he'd just discovered fire. We all protested that he should share his gift with the world. He never listened. That music was for *us*—his people—and we were lucky to hear it.
But nothing, and I mean *nothing*, made Josh prouder than Sylas. Teaching him to pitch (the *right* way, he'd insist), watching cat videos together until they both cried laughing, being the self-proclaimed "greatest" Little League coach who actually had the stats to back it up—that was Josh at his best. Sylas had the best dad, and the best coach.
Good luck getting a normal photo with him. Every single shot had Josh pulling a face, guaranteeing someone would say, "Okay, ONE more, but be *serious* this time." He passed that gift to all his nieces and nephews. You're welcome, family photos, forever.
He could fall asleep anywhere—a true superpower—but wake him up and it was *game on*. Energy, laughter, perfect timing (usually perfectly *wrong* timing)—that was Josh's specialty. He brought the moment we didn't know we needed.
Family weekends were special: either pitching and playing catch with Sylas or playing "burn each other out" and "make me move" with his brother Corey—two guys who refused to grow up and had zero regrets about it. He also made excellent cheese dip—the kind that made every gathering better. And because this is Josh we're talking about, he wanted to be cremated because he was "claustrophobic and didn't like small spaces." One more laugh, one more perfectly-timed Josh moment.
Josh leaves behind his son, Sylas Griffin Davidson; Sylas' mother Erika Griffin, his parents, Dwight and Susie Davidson; his brother Corey Davidson; Sister in law Michelle Davidson, his nieces Lily and Chloe; and nephews Finn and Gunnar, along with numerous family and friends who will miss him so much.
