Obituary

Jon Emil Kasper

The sweetest, kindest man with the best smile and laugh went to heaven on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at the age of 86. Jon Emil Kasper had a special gift - everyone he met instantly became a friend, and he was the most amazing husband, father, and Popi.

He was born in his home in Walburg, Texas, on March 28, 1939, to Norbert and Alvina Kasper(ik). He was baptized April 9, 1939, and confirmed March 29, 1953, at Zion Lutheran Church, Walburg, Texas. His childhood days were spent with his younger brother Ron, cousins, and many friends working the family farm, fishing on Opossum Creek, and playing baseball. Jon married Agnes Teinert on December 13, 1964, at Zion.

Jon graduated from Georgetown High School in 1957 and continued his education at Southwestern University in Georgetown. He had many fun times as a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Business in 1961, he began his career in accounting with the State Comptroller's Office. He retired from the state in 1993 after 32 years and worked the next 23 years, part-time, with Williamson County Adult Probation. As it is said, "find a job you love and you never work a day in your life". Jon found two jobs he loved, mainly because of the incredible people he worked with and the wonderful friendships formed along the way.

Jon had the biggest, most generous heart and was devoted to his faith, family, and friends. He spent summers taking his family on long road trips from Washington state to Niagara Falls and California to Florida and almost everything in between. He loved to fish and hunt. Favorite memories included epic ski trips, Colorado hunting trips with the guys, and eventually the wives too :), traveling with his grandkids, and watching them play sports.

Jon was preceded in death by his brother, Ron, and his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Agnes Kasper; daughters Shelli Kasper and friend Russ Walker of Walburg, Staci Schuler and husband Danny of Walburg; granddaughters Kristin Twardowski and husband Tyler of Belton, Megan Goodpaster and husband Steven of North Pole, Alaska; and grandson Zachary Whittenton and wife Addison of College Station.

Gifts in Jon's memory may be made to the Fieldhouse Fund, the Cemetery Fund, or the Pam J. Hight Scholarship Fund of Zion Lutheran Church and School. https://zionwalburg.churchcenter.com/giving
