John Gordon
Tetzlaff
November 25, 1936 – February 23, 2025
On Sunday February 23, 2025, John Gordon Tetzlaff, loving husband and father of three children was called to his heavenly home, at the age of 88. John was born on November 25,1936 to Gordon H and K. Pauline Tetzlaff (n Wideman) of Mukwonago, Wisconsin. He received his bachelor of Music Education from Milwaukee State Teacher's College (now University of Wisconsin Milwaukee) and started a career in music, initially as a band director, and shortly thereafter as a District Manager for the Selmer Corporation. He had a lifelong love of music and always enjoyed sharing that passion either by performing or by teaching with everyone he encountered. He married the love of his life Rosemary (Bobbi) Roberts on August 8, 1959 at the First Congregational Church of Waukesha, WI. That 56-year marriage produced 3 children, Michael, Mary (Schmidt), and Jeanne (Jinkins). Upon Rosemary's passing, John enjoyed 5 years in marriage to Nancy Travis-Tetzlaff. In addition to his great love of music, John enjoyed being an owner, and part of the Airstream community. This interest in Airstreaming and travel took John, and his family all over the country. Every year he would attend the annual Airstream club international rally, and could be found playing his trumpet in the WBCCI (Wally Byam Caravan Club International) band. John's infectious smile, happiness, and desire to lift others up, will be dearly missed by the many that knew him as a dear friend.
John was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, brother William, and both of his wives. He is survived by son Michael (Amy) Tetzlaff, daughters Mary (David) Schmidt, and Jeanne (Michael) Jinkins, grandchildren Justin (Brittany) Jinkins, Megan (Charles) Nell, Jessica Schmidt, Alex Jinkins, Lauren Schmidt, and multiple cousins, nieces, a nephew, and two (soon three) great grandchildren.
A celebration of John's life will be held at 11am on Saturday April 12, 2025 at Grace Episcopal Church, 1314 E University Ave, Georgetown, TX 78626. There will be a burial of John's cremains next to his beloved Rosemary on Saturday June 28, 2025 at 11:00am at Prairie Home Cemetery, 605 S. Prairie Avenue, Waukesha, WI.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to The Michael J Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. (https://www.michaeljfox.org/) in John's name.
