Obituary

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of John Michael Stengel, "Jack" at the age of 78. Jack left this life peacefully on the early morning of Tuesday, January 5th, 2026 in the presence of his son and the thoughts and prayers of his entire family.

Jack was born November 21, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri. An era known as the "boom"! He was the middle of three brothers and always seemed to be the bridge that would bring everyone together.

Jack spent most of his childhood and high school years in Katy Texas, just east of Houston. He grew up loving sports, hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles. He would go on to play football through High school and had several scholarship opportunities in Collage. He ended up at Stephen F. Austin where he joined Theta Chi fraternity for life.

Jack's legacy of leadership and hard work began straight out of collage where he started his business carrier. Ultimately becoming the vice president of H.Dennert distributing (Miller Beer) in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was not only known as a true leader but a friend to so many of his employees.

After moving back to Houston in 1987, he began to hunt and fish again with family and friends getting back to things he had loved growing up. In the early 2000's, he got a motorcycle and set out on an adventure that sparked a ton of joy in his life, joining the Buzzard watchers motorcycle club.

Jack was a remarkable man. A kind man with a huge heart. He didn't know how to say no. If someone needed a hand he was always the first one there. Jack will be deeply missed but definitely never forgotten. His legacy will be passed down through the generations.

Rest in peace dad. I love you.

Jack was a Son, Brother, father, Grand Father and Great Grand Father. Son of Edward and Eileen Stengel, brother to Joe and Gregg, sister in law Janice and Joyce Father to Kristopher, daughter in law to be Jamie, Grandfather of Case, Ethan and Brendan, and finally Great grandfather of Mateo. He was always a man of honor and truth. A true leader among men that always led with a humble heart.
