John "Chip"
Case
August 9, 1954 – October 9, 2024
John Mark Case, of Georgetown, TX, passed away on October 9, 2024, at the age of 70 after a courageous three-year battle with Multiple Myeloma. He was born on August 9, 1954, in Taylor, TX, to the late Lloyd and Eunice Case. Following the death of his father when he was just a baby, his mother remarried, and the family moved to Georgetown, TX, where he was raised alongside his sisters, Trudy and Martha, by his mother and stepfather, the late William Peterson.
A lifelong resident of Georgetown, John—affectionately known as "Chip" and later "Papa"—dedicated his life to family, faith, and community. He married his high school sweetheart, Lou Anne Magness, in 1975, and together they raised two daughters, Jennifer and Tiffany, whom he cherished and spoiled with kindness.
John was deeply involved in his community and was a lifelong member of St. John's Methodist Church. He actively participated in various church activities, including the Seekers Sunday School class, volunteering with Methodist Men, singing in the choir, and serving as a Trustee. His commitment to service extended to the Lion's Club, where he was a proud member for 35 years. John found joy in morning gatherings with the Mugg Huggers and cherished every moment spent with his church family.
Family was central to John's life. He loved spending time with Lou Anne and their close-knit family, including Nancy and Clark, as well as his grandchildren, Jaclyn and Daniel "Joey"Pereira and Tori Whitfield. John maintained a close relationship with his sisters and their families, always finding ways to connect with them.
In his leisure time, John enjoyed watching and attending college and high school football games, embarking on road trips, and, though he would often joke about it, supporting his daughters and grandkids during dance performances. He believed the journey mattered more than the destination and delighted in family travels, including cruises.
Though he was not a man of many words, John had a huge heart and a willingness to help anyone in need. He was a great listener, immensely proud of his family, and never hesitated to express his love.
John is survived by his beloved wife, Lou Anne Case; daughters, Jennifer Pereira (and husband Dan) and Tiffany Whitfield (and husband Shawn); sisters, Trudy Bamsch (and husband Wayne) and Martha Richey (and husband Ray); sister-in-laws, Nancy Bottlinger (and husband Clark) and Heather Magness; grandchildren, Jaclyn Pereira, Daniel Pereira, and Tori Whitfield; as well as numerous cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
