Joel Bryan Russeau

Joel passed away peacefully at the age of 69 surrounded by family and loved ones after serious complications from surgery.

Joel was born in Jacksonville, FL, on September 15, 1956 to the late James and Myrtle Russeau. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, October 11, 2025.

Joel grew up in Jacksonville, FL. He graduated from William M. Raines High School in 1974 and graduated from Florida Technological University (now called University of Central Florida) with a degree in Engineering Technology in 1978.

Joel had an extensive career in the technology field working at Martin Marietta (straight out of college), Datapoint Corporation, Tandem Computer, Compaq, and Hewlett Packard (HP). He also wrote and contributed to many technical papers in the electronics industry. He retired from HP in 2007.

After retirement, Joel spent quality time with his wife, educating himself on finance, enjoying his cars, basketball, grilling, and occasionally doing small jobs to challenge himself. He worked a short time at Logitech and Lifesize.

He is preceded in death by his parents James and Myrtle Russeau. Joel is survived by his wife of 38 years, Beverly Bonaparte Russeau of Georgetown, TX; step-son Armando Asebedo Jr. (Saidiya) of St. Louis, MO; sister, the Reverend Carrie English of Jacksonville, FL; brother James E. Russeau (Gloria) of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Imari and Armando (A3) Asebedo; sister-in-law Joan Bonaparte; nephew Orlando Moore (Dione) of Waldorf, MD; niece Dr. Jamila Russeau Donal (Todd) of Jacksonville, FL; and a number of other relatives and special friends.

Visitation will be held at Ramsey Funeral Home, Georgetown, TX at 5:00 pm on Monday, October 20, 2025.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Crestview Baptist Church, Georgetown, TX at 11:00 am on Tuesday, October 21, 2025.

The family would like to thank the doctor and nurses at the Round Rock Hospital Critical Care Unit for taking care of him during the final days.
