Joann Boore Nutt was born on Feburary 22, 1933, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Her parents also grew up there and had a long history in Harrisburg.

Joann loved to dance, which is how she met John, her husband of 70 years. They met at a USO dance in Pennsylvania while John was in the Army, and married in 1952. John's work in the oil business for 34 years required them to travel across Texas from Kilgore, to Pasadena to Austin and finally to Georgetown. They also lived a short time in Opelousas, Louisiana.

During the 60's and 70's, Joann worked as a wig stylist at family friend's wig salon in Pasadena, Texas. She sported a different hair style for every occasion.

In 1978, Joann and John moved to Serenada in Georgetown where they saw many changes over the past 45 years. She knew everyone in the neighborhood and many people across Georgetown.

Joann and John were avid fishermen at various lakes in central Texas. They also traveled every summer for 26 years in their RV, staying 3 months each year in Chama, New Mexico. Joann's favorite things were her family, weenie dogs, backyard flowers, arts & crafts, and dancing to Motown music. She also loved to walk their dogs in the parks and watch the deer and birds in the backyard. Her favorite foods were a daily Hostess Cupcake and a weekly Dairy Queen blizzard. Joann and John enjoyed playing the penny slots at casinos in New Mexico and Louisiana. Joann never met a stranger and could strike up a conversation with anyone. She was constantly joking and laughing, especially at her son's bad jokes and noises.

John passed in 2023 at 95 and Joann in 2024 at 91. They had a long and wonderful life together. Joann is survived by her daughter Tammy Nutt Butler, son Jeff Nutt and wife Robyn Kilgore Nutt; grandsons David Nutt, Michael Nutt and wife Jessica Lyttle Nutt; Granddaughters Melisa Butler Ross and husband Tanner Ross with their son Case, Tonya Butler Ove, husband John Ove and their children Ryleigh, Archer, Chappel and Drexel.

A drop-in celebration of Joann's life will be held Sunday, June 23 between 1PM and 4PM at the home of Jeff and Robyn at 116 Nicole Way, Georgetown, TX 78633.
