Obituary

Jim Royce Rushing of Georgetown, Texas fought a tough battle with early onset Alzheimer's but passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, May 25, 2020 at the age of 68.

Jim was born to Roy and Martha (Evans) Rushing on July 17, 1951 in Marble Falls, Texas.

Jim is survived by Linda (Reinhardt) Rushing, his wife of 36 years. They were married on August 20, 1983 at Crestview Baptist in Austin, Texas. He is also survived by his children: Lance Edward Rushing of Georgetown and Maegan LeAnn Rushing of Abilene, Texas; mother, Martha Rushing of Utah; sisters: Mary VanderStraten and husband Richard of Utah, and Donna Manning of Austin; niece, Katie VanderStraten; and nephew, Beck VanderStraten.

He is preceded in death by his dad, Roy Rushing.

For 30 years Jim was a lineman for the City of Austin Electric Department, retiring in 2003. Then in 2006 he went to work for Williamson County Road and Bridge, where he worked for 8 years and retired in December 2014, due to his health.

Jim loved animals, especially his grand dog Jaxter! He also loved gardening, fishing, hunting and watching football, especially UT football. He lifted weights…even tried powerlifting. He loved rodeos, going and participating in bull riding. He was always a lover of music; his favorite was country probably because he loved to dance! He was a good dancer too; you name it, he could dance it. T he waltz, two-step, Polka were a few of his favorites. His love of country music and dancing was the one thing he kept till the end.

Jim was a member of First Baptist Georgetown where he volunteered as a crossing guard. People loved his great smile and friendly handshake as he greeted them.
